In short, Gabriella needed a friend to talk to. She figured Angel was busy with her twins, so Gabriella figured it would be best not to call upon her until she was sure her cousin had a day off at least. But since it was the weekend, Gabriella thought it was likely that Raychel was at home. Her suspicions were confirmed when she smelled her friend through door of her house.
Gabriella knocked gently, knowing Raychel would hear almost any sound. In fact, her friend probably already knew Gabriella was there by smell alone. Gabriella pulled her cloak tighter around herself; lately she had been feeling colder. It was probably just another pregnancy thing. She hoped Raychel would know more about that sort of thing than she did.
Gabriella expected to have to tell Raychel she was pregnant though, because her smell had only changed slightly so that she smelled a bit more like Isaac. Gabriella herself hadn't noticed it for a little while and Isaac hadn't said anything about her smell being off. She wouldn't know for sure though until Raychel answered the door. Gabriella held her breath for a moment, steadying herself until the door opened.

Raychel had been looking out her back window, eyes peeled for deer. They didn't come often, since they could sense a predator nearby, but they came every once in a while. She smelled Gabriella before she had heard her coming up the walkway. Almost immediately, she smelled something off. Was Isaac with her? No, the smell was too faint. Then, what was it. Racking her brain for a solution, she padded soundlessly towards the door. However, when her hand touched the doorknob, she found herself remembering something. Safira's scent. She had smelled like Demetri when she had first become pregnant, before the heartbeat was detectable. Could it be? Raychel threw open the door, smiled, and ushered Gabby inside.

Gabriella stepped inside wordlessly, allowed the door to shut behind her, and then threw her arms around Raychel. She felt like she had been away from years; she had felt so secluded from the world ever since Isaac had been captured. And now that he was back, Gabriella felt even more alone. She hadn't realized how much she had missed her friend until that moment.

Raychel was a bit taken aback by this, but she smiled and soothingly embraced Gabby back. Meanwhile, her mind was reeling. Her smell - or rather, Isaac's - was overpowering now. Surely it couldn't be possible. But, it seemed that it was. Raychel remained silent as she held her friend, not sure if saying anything would be the best bet. When Gabby was ready to speak up, she would. Raychel gently patted Gabriella's hair, enjoying the comfort of the embrace.

Gabriella at last released her friend, stepping back half a step so that she was a more reasonable distance away from Raychel. Gabriella noted the look on Raychel's face and figured her friend had noticed something up with Gabriella's smell. "I'm pregnant," Gabriella said quietly, giving Raychel a small nod. It was definitely not the best time to have such news, but Gabriella couldn't help but feel slightly happy about it. She had always wanted kids after all, even if she knew it was crazy to try to raise a baby in such times.
